More About Father Christmas
Blooming Boxing Day here again! I decided to revisit this quintessentially English Christmas comic, which was a holiday favorite for my sister and I as children. It will still as amusing as we remember, and I write a little about it and other nostalgic holiday reads at me BookLikes blog, Reading Rainstorm, here. Unlike the standard sicky, sweet Christmas books, this book features a curmudgeonly Santa, who faces the normal difficulties of life as he sets off for his Christmas eve deliveries. Despite the author's unique Santa, this story and its illustrations tug at your heart strings. A must have for any library with Christmas books. The tale... I loved this book when I found it in a library when I was a kid. I wanted to buy it but I think it is out of print? Our library has it, and we enjoyed, although it was a little on the negative side. I got tired of Santa saying, "Blooming this. Blooming that." But the illustrations make it amazing.
